What do you do while you’re waiting for your favorite professional house cleaning services to come back again? Your home might just need a little extra care in between the times you’ve scheduled your local house cleaning to come around, what should you do? Here at Maid to Shine, we have a lot of handy tricks up our sleeves that make our professional home cleaning services top notch.  Not only do they improve the quality of our cleanings, but these tricks are 100% green (which means it’s healthier for you and your family!), quick, and easy to implement in your own cleaning. So, what about your sinks? Sinks are designed for cleaning—we wash our hands in them, our dishes, our fruits, and our veggies. They see a lot of traffic, and dispense a lot of germs, bacteria etc. It seems as though keeping sinks sanitized, scrubbed, and clean would be important. It’s easy for build-up, scum, hair, and other disgusting things to collect in the basin; think of all the germs festering there—it’s not a pleasant thought!

And of course, the best maid service around town has a quick, easy, GREEN answer for scrubbing those icky sinks! Whether your sink is a stainless steel or porcelain, our Maid to Shine method can bail you out. What will you need? Just your best scrubby, sanitizer/surface cleaner, and a little bit of baking soda (we like to use our 100% green Red Juice, which is our go-to sanitizer). Once you’ve gathered your supplies, spray the inside of the sink with your preferred cleaner and sprinkle just a little bit of baking soda in it (very little goes a very long way). Be sure to disperse the baking soda along the bowl, so that it’s not collecting in just one place. Next, setting the cleaner and soda aside, use your pad to gently work up a paste. Now you’re ready to begin scrubbing out your sink. Starting at the upper edge (and working to the bottom), begin scrubbing your way around and down the sink; be sure to get every little bit with the baking soda paste. This paste makes it easy to get any scum or build-up off of your sink! Keep working your way down to the bottom, and once you’ve finished the basin of the sink, don’t forget to use the edge of your scrubber to really get inside the crevices of the stopper—scum likes to hide there too. Once you’ve finished scrubbing, turn on the faucet and thoroughly rinse the baking soda down the drain.

And just like that, your sink is clean! This should work for any sink you might have in your house.
