Best Natural Cleaning Methods – Part 1

March 15, 2017 / Maid To Shine Denver / Cleaning Tips

One of the biggest frustrations when cleaning is deciding upon which products suit your specific needs. With so many options available, it can be hard to decipher all of the different types of cleaners and their qualities. Luckily there are some simple and more natural cleaning methods that provide quick mindful solutions to this common problem. Eco-friendly cleaning methods allow you to know exactly what substances are being used on your surfaces, without worrying about the ingredients. Let’s start in the bathtub with some simple cleaning methods for that stubborn surface!

Method 1: Vinegar and water Maid to Shine Parker | Natural eco-friendly cleaning methods

What you will need:
Vinegar
Hot tap water
A scrub brush.

Clog the drain and fill it will hot water as full as it can get. Add 4-5 cups of vinegar and let sit for at least 2 hours. The longer you let it sit, the better the results. After it is done sitting drain it, reclog, and leave about 5-6 inches of water. Take the scrub brush and scrub away all the dirt and grim from that nasty ring, using the water at the bottom of the tub to clean off the brush when needed. Finish draining and rinse.

Method 2: Grapefruit and salt

What you will need:
A grapefruit halved
Any type of salt (the coarser the better)
Hot tap water

Take one-half of the grapefruit and cover liberally with the salt. Scrub in circular motions along the bottom, around the drain, and along the sides of the tub. Keep reapplying salt on the grapefruit to keep the surface coarse. Once the first grapefruit half is spent, repeat the process with the second half. Continue until the grapefruit has been used up and the tub has been scrubbed thoroughly. Rinse well with hot tap water.

Along with being cheaper and safer, these methods are also more convenient, as most of the ingredients can be found in the pantry. But if you ever find yourself without a crucial ingredient call Maid to Shine, Parker’s professional maid service. We use green cleaners which are extremely safe and leave your house smelling fresh!
